Ibanez GRG131DX-BKF — RG-Style Superstrat With Real Gig-Ready Specs

The Ibanez GRG131DX-BKF brings the iconic RG Superstrat shape and Ibanez playability to players shopping in a budget tier. Finished in satin Black Flat with red sharktooth inlays and matching binding, this model carries the visual aggression of the RG family without the flagship price. A poplar body keeps the instrument light enough for long sets, and the satin surface resists fingerprints during performance. This guitar is the right choice for players who want genuine Ibanez character in an accessible electric guitar.

What Sets This Model Apart in the GIO Line

Two details lift this guitar above typical entry-level Superstrats. The mono-unit output jack is a single solid piece of hardware designed to resist the loosening and contact failure that plague cheaper guitars after months of cable swapping. The F106 fixed bridge enriches sustain and allows independent string-height adjustment, so players can dial in low action for fast lead work without fighting a floating tremolo.

Fast Maple Neck and Flat Fingerboard Radius

Speed is the headline of any RG-derived guitar, and this model delivers it through a slim GRG-profile maple neck. The bound Purpleheart fingerboard offers a smooth surface, and the flat 400 mm radius supports easy bending and wide vibrato without choking out.

• Scale Length: 648 mm — standard 25.5" tension for tight low-end response
• Fingerboard Radius: 400 mm — flat enough for fast lead runs and aggressive bends
• Number of Frets: 24 — extended upper-fret access for soloing and modern riffing

Twin Infinity R Humbuckers With 5-Way Switching

The HH configuration pairs two passive ceramic-magnet Infinity R humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. A 5-way pickup selector unlocks split-coil tones alongside full humbucker voices, giving players access to brighter single-coil-like sounds without swapping pickups.

• Pickup Configuration: HH (Infinity R neck + bridge) — passive ceramic humbuckers
• Switching: 5-way pickup selector — adds coil-split options to standard humbucker tones
• Hardware Color: Black — matches the satin Black Flat finish for a unified dark look

Lightweight Poplar Body and Fixed Bridge Stability

Poplar is the workhorse tonewood of the GIO series, chosen for balanced resonance and light weight. The body uses poplar throughout with no separate top wood, keeping the construction simple. The fixed F106 bridge locks tuning for drop tunings and aggressive rhythm playing.

• Body Material: Poplar — light, balanced, and resonant for its weight class
• Finish: Satin Black Flat — low-glare surface that hides fingerprints during performance
• Bridge: F106 fixed hardtail with 10.5 mm string spacing — tuning-stable platform

Built for Beginners, Intermediates, and Budget-Minded Metal Players

The GRG131DX-BKF is the right choice for first-time electric guitar buyers who want a real Ibanez rather than a no-name starter, and for intermediate players adding a backup instrument. The 648 mm scale and 24-fret neck make it a natural fit for rock, metal, hard rock, and modern worship styles. Players who prefer tuning stability over tremolo flexibility will appreciate the fixed bridge.

The Ibanez GIO Series — Accessible Quality From a Legendary Guitar Maker
