Billy Idol, born William Michael Albert Broad on 30 November 1955, is an English-American singer, songwriter, and musician known for his energetic style and rebellious image. Idol first gained attention in the late 1970s as the frontman of the punk band Generation X before launching a successful solo career. Moving to New York in the early 1980s, he became a prominent figure of the MTV era with hits like "Dancing with Myself," "White Wedding," "Rebel Yell," and "Eyes Without a Face." His albums Rebel Yell and Billy Idol brought him worldwide recognition and multiple platinum certifications. After a period away from the spotlight in the late 1990s, he returned with new music in the 2000s, continuing to perform and release albums such as Devil's Playground and Kings and Queens of the Underground.
