Bass Octave Fuzz Pedal — Optimized for Low-End Clarity

The Electro-Harmonix Lizard King is a vintage-style bass octave fuzz pedal that retools the gnarly octave fuzz circuit from the 2023 EHX x JHS Lizard Queen collaboration for bass. This instrument features fixed-gain fuzz that is dynamically responsive, with a new Blend knob that preserves the bass's fundamental and low end.

What Sets the Lizard King Apart

Unlike most octave fuzzes that swallow a bass's low end, this pedal adds a dedicated Blend knob mixing from 100% clean to 100% fuzz. The Sun/Shadow toggle is a two-way voice switch — Sun boosts the octave fuzz with driving midrange, while Shadow leaves the clean tone unchanged and tightens the fuzz.

Signal Flow and Controls

Four knobs and one toggle give bass players direct command over every stage of the fuzz signal path.

• Volume acts as the master output level for setting the overall pedal volume in the signal chain.
• Octave: blend intensity — counterclockwise for straightforward fuzz, clockwise for full octave-up thickness
• Blend: clean/fuzz mix — fully counterclockwise is 100% clean, fully clockwise is 100% fuzz

Tone Shaping and Voice Modes

A low-pass filter Tone knob rolls off high frequencies for warmer vintage character. The Sun/Shadow switch provides two distinct EQ voicings for both the octave fuzz and the clean signal.

Built around a fully analog circuit with mono 6.3 mm TS jacks, it drops into any standard bass pedalboard. True-bypass switching keeps the dry signal untouched when disengaged.
