Portable and compact bus-powered 10x6 FireWire audio/MIDI recording interface that is ready, willing, and able to work hard and travel anywhere. It features six line-level inputs and two mic/instrument inputs with Presonus’ sweet-sounding, high-headroom Class A XMAX mic preamplifiers and Burr-Brown converters (with 118 dB dynamic rang!), also found in popular StudioLive AI mixers. They allow for recording and play back at sampling rates up to 96 kHz, with remarkably low noise. And with PreSonus’ lauded JetPLL jitter-elimination technology, they provide the tightest, most reliable digital sync in the industry. The I/O section further provides two balanced 6.3mm main line output, S/PDIF in/out and, of course, MIDI in/out. Although the interface comes with an external power supply, it operates perfectly on FireWire bus power. Thanks to an amazing internal switching power supply, it delivers true 48V phantom power when bus-powered, and it also supplies a full 30V to the preamps, so the microphones always sound their best. All of this hardware is jammed into a 1/3-rackspace box that is built like a locomotive, with a shockproof, reinforced metal chassis; sealed rotary controls; military-grade circuit board; chassis-mounted jacks; and full EMI shielding. And the extra-loud headphone output ensures that monitored music can be heard loud and clear, even in noisy locations. The interface’s internal ten-input software mixer/router allows user to create three cue mixes with zero latency. A mix control blends the input signal with the computer playback stream for zero-latency monitoring so the new tracks can be overdubbed without hearing annoying delays. The cue mixes can be set up in the Presonus’ Universal Control software or in Studio One 3 Artist DAW software for Mac and Windows® both of which are included.
