Joe Henderson (April 24, 1937 – June 30, 2001) was an influential American jazz tenor saxophonist known for his rich tone and inventive improvisation. Over a career that lasted more than forty years, he collaborated with many top jazz artists and released acclaimed recordings on major labels such as Blue Note, Milestone, and Verve. Though primarily recognized for his saxophone work, he occasionally played the flute.
