Killing Joke is an English rock band formed in 1979 in Notting Hill, London by Jaz Coleman, Paul Ferguson, Geordie Walker, and Youth. Known for their intense sound, they emerged from the post-punk movement, quickly developing a heavier style that influenced industrial rock and inspired bands like Metallica, Nirvana, and Nine Inch Nails. Their breakthrough came in 1985 with the album Night Time and the single Love Like Blood. Over the years, Killing Joke’s music evolved to include elements of gothic rock, synth-pop, and electronic music, marked by Walker’s distinctive guitar work and Coleman’s commanding vocals. Despite lineup changes and challenges, the group continued with Coleman and Walker as core members until Walker’s passing in 2023.
